Do we like these guys? YES.
There are a few ‘J’ words in my life I am fond of hearing. For example: July. July is a warm sunny month here in Vancouver, that for the most part is comfortably summery. Next might be Juice, for the mere factor that it is more often than not delicious, as well as thirst quenching. Thirdly i would name Japandroids. There have been many a rainy day where “Sovereignty” (Post Nothing 2009) has found its way onto my speakers. Instantly resulting in myself grabbing what ever resembles an instrument so I could strum along, at the sametime yelling out “It’s raining in Vancouver and I don’t give a FUCK”. And lets be honest, it rains a lot here. Thankfully the rain held off on what was a gorgeous saturday night.
The anticipation for this show had been building months, until the day finally arrived. Like so many others we made our way to one of our favorite venues, The Biltmore Caberet. To partake in a home coming of sorts. The boys were back in town!
The boys being, David and Brian of Vancouvers beloved Japandroids who just returned from a long tour across North America to shake the city to its foundation. Being the last show of the tour nothing was left on the table. The boys poured heart over soul into every ounce of their set. The raucous crowd pumped fists, banged heads, and belted out every word in a sweat filled rampage. Ending with a cover by punk rock pioneers The Gun club, their set dashed across the finish line and sent the club patrons home with ringing ears and enormous smiles.
“Sticks and strums may break my bones, but burgs will never hurt me.”
